XnaPosingStudio  (XPS), also known as XNALara, is a 3D Model Viewing and Posing program for MS Windows, which allows everyone to create amazing Pictures and even frame by frame animations easily and in real-time. The program is free of any charge along with thousands of user provided Content available.

How to download and how to install (updated): xnamall.jimdo.com/tutorials/se…

Hello dear watchers,

this release adds a few nice features and fixes a couple of bugs.

What's new?

Features:
-> Reduce Textures on the fly in the Material Editor (RMB click at "Diffuse image preview" ... Ctrl+RMB click to increases the Texture resolution)
-> "Commands-->Resize large textures" creates a new model folder as "texture pack" (double dash notation) and resize all texture images to 512x512 pixel. If you have performance or memory trouble, then use this feature and be happy. The original model will be untouched. The new model will be loaded immediately.
-> If XPS will not launch up, then the app create now a log file called "XPS_Errorlog.txt" with all "Detail" informations.
-> Disable/Enable lightmaps and specular maps
-> "Commands-->Swap selected item" lets you swap the selected item to a different one
-> "Material Editor-->Select another mesh part"
-> Drag & Drop model folders into the "Render Window"

Fixes:
-> Bugs with mirroring
-> Errors on startup

Convinced. I want the DL!

Hello, I have a question. The problem is, my XNALara folder is always set to "read-only", so editing any textures or text files inside the folder is really annoying, because I can't save anything inside XNALara folder and have to do it in another folder first, and then move to XNALara. Disabling the "read-only" parameter in the Properties doesn't help - it enables again immediately. What can I do to make XNALara work without admin rights?

Hello!! Hope not to bother as is not the typical question.
I do adapt icons of programs to dA so people can use them.

I have pending the XPS/XNALara icon for a while, but I couldn't seem to get all I need...

I mean, I have the links you provided that leads to a lot of sites but I still have many doubts.

What is the original/official denomination of the program? XPS or XNALara? who did developed? those links are the official sites? XPS seems like a standard of Microsoft? It is? is there any webpage about the standard? XNA is that standard?

What is the icon of the program? I mean, I have seen the xnalara logo your group uses and also other groups. That wordmark I have to do sometime in the future too, but I am refering to the logo of the program.

As I don't have the possibility to try to install the program (lack of space) I can't check for myself the icon that appear on the task bar.

Is this? archive.is/jB3vt/fb54856e4c38f… Thank you!!!

The denomination for "Xna Posing Studio" should be XNALara/XPS
XPS is an acronym for Xna Posing Studio)
Watch the official site  xnalara.home-forum.com/t170-xn… (Developer Spoiler section)
XPS is not any of this  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XPS so it do not means the "XPS document Format " standard of Microsoft

The Icon is correct. This  archive.is/jB3vt/fb54856e4c38f… appear on my task bar.

If you ask, what is the icon of my own " XNALara Update: version 9.8 by XnaFreak " version 9.8 (without the XPS extensions):
It is also  archive.is/jB3vt/fb54856e4c38f…

BTW
If you look at the XPS logo it has a orange/red part for the X. There is a dash, two dots, and then another dash. Sounds like morse code doesn't it? Well, in morse code a dash, two dots, and another dash equals X: -..- Also a N in morse code is a dash, then a dot: -. Finally an A in morse code is a dot, then a dash: .- If you put the N and the A morse code translations together you get -..- also known as X. So the red/orange part at the beggining represents the X as well as the N and the A
XNA is an Framework made by Microsoft and XNA is required to run XPS ;)

The XNA logo is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsof…
Microsoft XNA is a recursive acronym for XNA's not acronymed.
So taking only the X from the XNA logo means: XPS is a recursive acronym for "Xna Posing Studio" without the "not acronymed" from XNA.
XNAaraL , the developer of XPS, put a lot of easter eggs in XNALara/XPS
I guess, :iconxnaaral: was a big fan of Ready Player One, a story about "egg hunter".
And XNAaraL was a "The Witcher 3" fan and his last Derivation was "Gunter O'Dimm", with the description "Man of Glass. Coming soon. Very soon. Be careful with your wishes"

Therefore I spend all of my spare time as a "gunter" (a contraction of "egg hunter") to be the first person to find the "right" easter egg in XPS and  inherit his entire fortune and the corporation. :/

I could use some help, I've downloaded everything i needed to (I even have a brand new laptop!), but every time i try rotating a bone, the whole model spazzes out. I know it's not the model, my friend uses the same model with no issues, could you please help me?

If it's not the model,
.and.
if it's not the applications,
.then.
it's (a part of) your " brand new laptop" ;) (video card)

Maybe, this
XPS broken? - Problem with artefacting when posing
can help you,
.If.
you provide the necessary informations
.and.
the willingness to make some tests later.

You Might Have Tried????
Since XPS 11.5 -> Select multiple models at the same time (for moving it) by pressing Ctrl+LMB, the new shortcut for positioning them on the ground is Ctrl+Alt+LMB

¿Ctrl+Mouse Button?
Los botones de acceso directo de XPS: (haga clic al botón <Ayuda>, seleccionar elemento <Controles lenzo 3D>, al seleccionarlo se abre un cuadro de diálogo ) ;)

Ayuda->Controles lenzo 3D
Ctrl + Alt + clic/arrastrar BMI ... position model on ground plane

How To Use The Help Menu
At the right top of the "Control Window" screen you will see Help as a menu choice. Select the Help menu ;) You will see the  pull down menu. "3D window controls" shows you all the keyboard key combinations and shortcut keys that can be used for posing and navigating through the scene or making images.

Help->3D window controls
Ctrl + Alt + LMB click/drag ... position model on ground plane

When I "add models" I get hit with an endless stream of "No mesh detected, skipping" popups one after the other, is this going to happen every single time I boot or is it a one time thing as the previous versions didnt do this, is there a way to disable said notifications?

Hah! Dude, you should be fine, heck more than fine. I've been using an integrated Intel HD graphics card and the program can handle up to about 5 or so models. But I've read before that XPS can only utilize 2 GB of ram, so that may be an issue.

Hi, I'm interested in starting with 3D modeling, but my computer isn't good enough for Daz studio. It's a small mobile computer with Window 7 and Intel Atom processor, I don't know if there is specific requirements for using XPS, how can I know if it's compabtible to my computer or not ?

Thanks for helping.

Hi,
XPS is an 'realtime posing program'. This means, the 'video card' (GPU) makes the posing and rendering.
Your 'Intel Atom processor' (CPU) have an integrated 'Intel® HD Graphics' GPU, and this GPU is sufficient for XPS.

Therefore, your small mobile computer with Window 7 can running XPS. Your PC power should massive enough to be effective

As far as I know, the minimum system requirements
for using XPS are:
  •  OS = Windows XP (Windows 7 recommended)
    • Processor = 1.8GHz Intel or equivalent AMD CPU
    • Memory = 2 GB RAM
    •  Hard Drive = 1 GB
    •  Sound Card = DirectX 9.0c compatible (Used for the mini game ... shortcut Ctrl+G)
    •  Direct X = DirectX 9.0c August 2008
    •  Input = Keyboard / Mouse
    •  Video Card = 256 MB (with Shader 2.0 support); Shader model 3.0 recommended.
Supported Chipsets: Radeon 9500-9800/X300-X600 or greater;  GeForce FX/PCX or greater; Intel video cards are not officially supported , but with Windows 7 and Windows 8 (Not Windows 10), Intel GMA 900 or greater should works

I am puzzled that no official requirements have been published here.. ;)

Thanks ^^ I'll put it in my fav so I can find back to it ;)
And for hairstyles (without bodies) I do the same ? Or it works differents ? Wher to put them when I download them ? Also I wonder if there is a way to get Heteochromia eyes too, example: If I want one blue and one green ?
Sorry for asking so many questions ><

I hardly understand English. I can not express myself well in English. :(

Right, for hairstyles ... it is the same.
If you want to MAKE hair (without bodies) ... like this one: moogleoutfitters.deviantart.co… ... just skipping "
3. Load the second model"
If you HAVE a hair ... and you want to add it to an other model, then it is exactly the same. The hair is loaded as the second model.

"Wher to put them when I download them ? " .... I do not understand the question. :(

To make Heteochromia eyes ... is difficult (some more effort). Most models have the left and the right eye on the same part ... and both share the same texture. But it is the same guide. ;)
You can load the character model twice times (Step 1 and step 3 of the guide).
After this ... select ... for the 1. model ... the right eye bone ... press the Rotate/Move/Scale button to "Scale" ... and move the right slider to zero. Now the eye is invisible.
After this ... select ... for the 2. model ... the left eye bone ... press the Rotate/Move/Scale button to "Scale" ... and move the right slider to zero. Now the eye is invisible.
Now, "3a. Select ”Options Make Items Optional“ and select all parts from the 2nd model ... except the eye ...  to remove it.
(You have now 1 model without the right eye ... and the 2nd model, consisting of only .. the left eye. :) )
Continue with 5. and 6.
Use the "Modify-Material Editor" to "switch" the "diffuse texture" image of one eye (switch the blue image to the green eye image)
Save everthing with step 7.

Thank you very much ^^

Also, the question you didn't understand was: If I downloaded a hair style, in what file do I have to put it ? But reading your response I supose it will be in the "data" file like other models :)

Wel no I can test that by myself and try to make something out of it ;)
Reply
:iconxnafreak:
XnaFreak Featured By Owner Edited Apr 27, 2017
Right, it belong into the data folder (recommended
) ... if you want to open it with "File->Add item(s) ..."

or in any other folder of your user account ... if you only want to load it with "Modify->Load Generic Item ..." or with mouse "Drag and Drop" into 3D render window  comments.deviantart.com/1/6222…

BTW: I can (will) ask  Grummel83 for permission to modify his guide ... to make "Heteochromia eyes (one blue and one green)"
